Stars extend F Ott for 4 years, $11.8M (AP)

The Dallas Stars have signed veteran forward Steve Ott to a four-year, $11.8 million contract extension. The deal announced Monday locks up the 27-year-old winger through the 2013-14 season. Ott has played all 389 games of his NHL career with the Stars. Ott has 11 goals and 12 assists in 52 games this season. [read full article]

Rangers claim veteran G Auld off waivers (AP)

The Rangers have found the veteran backup goalie they have been looking for, claiming Alex Auld off re-entry waivers from the Dallas Stars. The move to get the 29-year-old Auld was announced Saturday during the NHL Olympic break. He was 9-6-3 with a 3.00 goals against average in 21 games this season with the Stars. [read full article]

Stars claim Kings' Segal, put Ott on IR (AP)

The Dallas Stars have claimed forward Brandon Segal off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings. Segal was added to the roster Thursday and center Steve Ott was placed on the injured list. Thrashers trade G Lehtonen to Stars (AP)

The Atlanta Thrashers traded a former franchise cornerstone for the second time in less than a week on Tuesday night, sending goaltender Kari Lehtonen to the Dallas Stars. The Thrashers received defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy and a fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft. Atlanta said Vishnevskiy, 21, is expected to report to AHL Chicago. [read full article]

Stars C Ribeiro off IR after tracheotomy (AP)

The Dallas Stars have activated center Mike Ribeiro a month after he injured his throat in a game against the New York Rangers. Ribeiro came off injured reserve Monday while defenseman Mark Fistric went on the list with a knee injury. Forwards Raymond Sawada and Francis Wathier were recalled from the Texas Stars of the AHL.
